28 Weeks and Counting

Time flies when you're having fun! So I must be having fun. Today marks the beginning of the third trimester, the beginning of the home stretch! I'm just getting used to getting up 4 or 5 times at night for the loo. I'm on some fantastic supplements that are keeping the leg cramps under control, and apart from feeling significantly larger, I'm feeling fantstic. Most mornings, I have pelvic pain, but it's manageable with excercise, and stretches.

I'm still breastfeeding my 16 month old son, which has proved to be challenging some days, but we perservere. I've got every intention of tandem nursing if he doesn't self wean before our next bub arrives, and all indications say he isn't going to!

We're focussing heavily on keeping bub in a nice position, using Rebozo techniques, and lots of crawling. (Mostly after my son!!)

Blood pressure remains awesome - I'm so stoked!! Last time around it was rather high, but with a lot less stress, my second pregnancy, better diet, and much more excercise, I'm maintaining a nice healthy BP!

I'm hankering after a nice, cool maternity dress for summer, I had grand intentions of hitting the beach, but I'm not sure the world is ready for that yet Kiss

Thank you Thank You!!

A special thank you to a lovely lady from my badminton club, who kindly donated these nappies to the nappy drive. (Along with some goregous hand knitted jumpers, and a bunny rug or two) They're going to a wonderful cause, and I can't wait to deliver them!!

Feeling nearly fabulous

Well, we're well and truly over the official "half way" mark of this pregnancy (We'll see how accurate that is, come next year I suppose) and despite a few hiccups in terms of tonsilitis, and a bit of a spring cold - I feel fantabulous.  I'm still going to Chiro fortnightly, and with all the excercise, and extra self care - I'm stoked to say, my blood pressure is staying nice and low!!

We had our badminton grand final today, it was so exciting! We ended up losing by a teeny margin (1 game, 1 point) and it came down to a reset match at the end! I've got to admit, the pressure of weekly badminton being off, is a relief, but I've signed up to play at a club on a different day each week. Anything to keep my fittness up (Maybe just not 6 games in a whack)

Young master Ollie, is making his presence felt, and i'm still tracking really well on the nutrition front !! (Guilt is a great motivator it seems, everytime I crave a whopper, or coke, I just think of what it potentially does to the baby)

We've booked in at our backup hospital, and have an appointment at around about 30 weeks. Apparently it takes 2 or 3 hours (to ask "permission" for a homebirth) But such is life, and it's a small price to pay, to be a part of the CMP program.

Back to the old PC...

Well, after some Kerfuffle (that's a technical term) on ido, where one woman voiced serious concern over the implication that breastfeeding ends at 12 months, it would seem that the forum administrators saw a little sense.

Accomodating the very mixed community of breastfeeders, and formula feeders, they created a thread labelled nutrition. (After all, we can't offend anyone in this PC day and age) It's a small win I suppose, at least the implication of breastfeeding ending is gone.

It would be nice to see breastfeeding actively promoted, but we all seem to have to walk around on tiptoes, so as not to cause mother's guilt to anyone. ( I see this as such a moot point, as no mother in sound mind, would make any decision that they didn't believe was in the best interests of their child) However, I don't believe that accurate information is available to all mothers, nor do I believe that  the average mother has time to do the extensive reading on formula and breastfeeding, that would truly allow them to make an informed choice.

And while baby formula, is continuously marketed, as being perfectly safe and healthy - an acceptable altertative to breastmilk.... It can only be expected that with the information mothers are actively encouraged to read - formula will continue to appear perfectly fine.

When mainstream media, accepts the burden, of disseminating the truth, the whole truth, the accurate truth, no holds barred - it will be a great day for babies.
